Conservation repairs to the boundary wall of Orchard Manor School, Dawlish

We were instructed by Cunningham Taylor chartered surveyors to carry out Cob, lime render and capping repairs to the boundary wall of Orchard Manor school in Dawlish.

Higher End

A tree had fallen on to the wall at the top of the hill causing substantial damage to the wall and buttress. The buttress was repaired with cob block to match the existing buttress and the boundary wall at the top of the hill was a mixture of cob and local flint.

Lime putty render has been reinstated to the internal and external facades of the wall with the external facade harled with a harling grit to the existing.

The capping has been repaired with Spanish slate and an NHL 5 mortar flaunch to match the existing.

Lower End

The render was delaminating away from the bottom section of the wall further down the hill, the shockwave from the tree helped it on its way.

The render has been removed from the bottom the wall. Any loose material were removed back to sound cob and deep areas filled to prepare for the lime putty render with a harling grit finish on the topcoat to match the existing.

The capping was repaired with Spanish slate and an NHL 5 mortar flaunch.
